PLAT!
(Politiek Limburgs Actiegroep Taalbeleid)

This is a project that came completely from the hart, this group that I’m apart of is a group of people that are in love with the language of our Fatherland. Limburgs. Limburgs is a Language spoke by 1.2/1.5 Million people in Dutch and Belgian Limburg. And we are fighting to make this Language more visible in the street .
Some Things we Did:
tick the Limburgisch name on Town Name Street signs.
Email every political party in the region with plans & suggestions on what to do to keep Lumburgish alive.
More to come!
Lang leven de Limburgers & Dagblad de Limburger
I’m taking part in the “Lang Leve de Limburgers” 2026 test panel: a year-long health and wellbeing research program built around four pillars—movement, mental wellbeing, healthy eating, and connection. Throughout the year I’ll receive weekly tips and small challenges, and I’ll join professional measurements at the start and end of each pillar in Hasselt (Diepenbeek) to help evaluate the impact on health, wellbeing, and daily habits.
I’ll also be sharing my experiences beyond my own website: I will contribute to coverage for the newspaper De Limburger, so readers can follow real-life insights from a participant’s perspective.
I may also post my progress on my Instagram or maybe not we’ll see 😀

My progress
Pillar 1
n Pillar 1, we focused on movement. You might think that meant doing lots of intense exercise, but that actually wasn’t the point of the program. Instead, the goal was to make small, lasting changes that would stick with you for life. During the first few weeks, we were given tips on simple things you can do to bring more movement into your day.
So, which tips did I actually start following? Well, I began choosing the bike a bit more often, or simply walking when I could. For example, if I knew a phone call was going to take a while, I’d go for a short walk while talking. When going to a shop, I stopped parking right by the entrance and started parking a little farther away instead. That one especially works well for me, because it takes away some of the stress of parking, since those spots are usually empty anyway. It also gives me a moment to think again about what I actually needed from the shop. And taking the stairs instead of the lift was another easy one, although I was already doing that quite a lot because I’ve never really liked lifts. On the stairs, you’re a lot less likely to get stuck, so to speak.
Besides that, I also ended up in the newspaper in a few photos during some of the activities we did. For example, one evening, all of the members got together for a fun evening of walking and exercising.

I also took part in the 10K in Sittard together with a number of other members.

I’m curious to see what Pillar 2 will bring, but so far, Pillar 1 has been a success.
